  1. Why did you decide to pursue an MSEM degree?

While my bachelor’s degree in computer engineering equipped me with the necessary technical knowledge, I was interested in business. I wanted to expand my knowledge in business and management while retaining and strengthening my stronghold on the technical subjects. Additionally, I was interested in learning about the intersection of business and tech-world. Pursuing an MSEM degree was a logical choice to fulfill these aspirations.

2.  What is your most memorable moment throughout your time in the MSEM program?

One of the most memorable moments throughout the MSEM program was when my team secured second position in the General Ventures II category at HopStart 2023. HopStart is an annual business planning competition conducted by Johns Hopkins University. Our team came up with a unique business idea: PeerConnect – a one stop destination for solving all the queries of international students. The guidance from CLE/MSEM faculty helped us create a business plan which was well appreciated. The unique learning experience from the MSEM program proved to be crucial in this competition.

3.  What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to work as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst. Such a role will help me utilize my technical skills along with the management skills that I have gained from the MSEM degree. After gaining sufficient experience, I would eventually like to transition to strategy consulting.

4.  Why would you recommend the MSEM program to other students who are considering a postgraduate degree?

The MSEM program at Johns Hopkins University transforms one’s mindset from a mere problem solver to an expert in identifying and defining problems. This approach helps the students in deriving relevant solutions. The program also stresses interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary learning with a highly collaborative environment where the students work on projects for companies from a diverse range of industries. While tackling these projects, students hone their communication skills, especially bottom-up communication which is an important skill in today’s world. As part of the program, one learns to create and deliver effective presentations. The strong connection between the faculty and students ensures mentorship that enhances students’ growth. In a nutshell, if you want to have a growth-oriented postgraduate experience, you should consider JHU’s MSEM program.
