The Patient Safety Collaboration (informally known as the Hospital Project) is a unique initiative where graduate students from Master of Science in Engineering Management collaborate with healthcare and clinical professionals to improve patient outcomes at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

The Hospital Project begins during MSEM orientation. All incoming students participate in this project as a part of the course Strategies for Innovation and Growth during their first fall semester.  

Project Details

  • 7-week consulting project 
  • 4-5 graduate students per group  
  • Detailed final report with actionable recommendations 
  • Previous projects have addressed challenges related to:  
    • Process Improvement  
    • Standard Operating Procedure Optimization  
    • Cost vs. Benefit Analysis 
    • And many more…
