lllysa Izenberg has been a faculty member in the Whiting School of Engineering since 2010 and joined the Center for Leadership Education in a full-time role in 2014. Currently, she teaches Engineering Management and Leadership, Management Theory and Practice, Workplace Ethics, and Foundations of the American Enterprise. She has over 26 years of business experience, including six years working in industry and the rest in strategy and management consulting and coaching. As a business consultant and executive coach, Izenberg has helped leaders and managers communicate effectively and has coached employees for sustained superior performance and to work productively in face-to-face and virtual teams, overcome conflict, and manage projects.
Izenberg also teaches the course, Principles of Management, which is a collaboration between WSE and Coursera.
In 2016, Izenberg received the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association Excellence in Teaching Award and in 2020, she received the Robert B. Pond Sr. Excellence in Teaching Award from WSE.In her spare time, Izenberg volunteers on the APL Federal Credit Union board and with the Maryland Responds Medical Corps, dances West Coast Swing, and works in her garden.
