William Smedick is a teaching professor in the Center for Leadership Education, director of its Leadership Studies minor, and associate director of the Master of Science in Engineering Management program.
He began his Johns Hopkins career in 1989 as director of student activities, holding several student affairs roles until 2014. He began teaching part time in the CLE in 2008 and transitioned to a full-time faculty position in 2014, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
He also served as a consultant for Kathleen Allen Associates, providing program reviews, curriculum design, and professional coaching.
Smedick has held leadership roles in community and professional associations, including chair of the National Association for Campus Activities, member of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education, and president of the Westminster Wolves Soccer Club. He is chair of the International Leadership Association’s Sustainability and Leadership Community.
Smedick earned his BS in teacher education at Southern Connecticut State University, an MS in higher education administration with a concentration in counseling, and an EdD in leadership education from Morgan State University.
