Fall 2016 MSEM Orientation
MSEM welcomed our new Fall 2016 cohort on Monday, August 22 with a meet and greet over breakfast before embarking on a full week and a half of activities and classes. After a tour of the campus via a scavenger hunt, the students, staff and faculty finished their first day together with food and drink at local eatery The Dizz. The following days consisted of instruction in: working in teams, grammar and writing, cover letter and resumes, Excel instruction and communication and careers. Participation in an Outward Bound experience honed their skills in rappelling down a wall among other things! The final day of Orientation was an Ethnography project at Hopkins hospital to develop viable ideas for addressing vital patient safety problems at Johns Hopkins Medicine; this will involve immersing themselves in the culture of designated settings to understand the complex factors contributing to the problem.
